Volunteers Take Part in 'Last Saturday'

See photos from Jan. 29's "Last Saturday" community service projects.

Members of West Ridge Church in Dallas were among those Saturday taking part in community service projects around the area as part of the church's "Last Saturday" outreach campaign. Dallas-Hiram Patch was there to capture the efforts going into two of the projects that took place locally.

One project saw church members, metro Atlanta businesses and other volunteers work on the construction of a home being built by Tallatoona Community Action Partnership (CAP) Inc. Tallatoona was building a small house for an elderly couple, Martha and Red Parrish, who lived in a damaged trailer that was also affected by mold. Their new house is being built on land owned by the couple in Dallas.

Volunteers also helped Dallas-based CAYA Reconciliation Ministries sort, bag and deliver groceries in certain housing communities in the city, especially for those homebound and unable to drive. CAYA is a Christ-based, nonprofit outreach ministry with a world vision to help restore indigents and the homeless.
