This is a day for people of all ages to enjoy, since the first-ever comic book superhero made his first appearance in 1938. While some characters have new looks, and some of their storylines have changed completely, comic enthusiasts can still share their love of their favorite characters, old and new. Halfway through 2012, we have our first real contender for the movie of the year, with the final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. Learn what our resident critic said about it and where and when you can see it in Paulding County.

Holy blockbuster, Batman! The Dark Knight Rises premieres Thursday at midnight, and it's basically a guarantee it will break ticket sale records. The third and reported final installment of director Christopher Nolan's Batman series starring Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader is expected to rake in more than $150 million in its opening weekend alone. As of July 1, 100,000 tickets were already presold. Hiram’s Movies 278 is capitalizing on the hype with a Batman marathon that begins Thursday at 6 p.m. and continues for more than 8 hours.
