PCHS Chorus in Contest for $15,000

Rack Room Shoes will award $15,000 grants to the top four vote-getters in a contest that runs through Jan. 11. Learn how you can vote online for the Paulding County High Chorus program.

Your online votes can once again help Paulding students bring home a large sum of money. The Paulding County High School Chorus program is one of 22 entries from Georgia in Rack Room Shoes’ “Gift of Music” video contest. The contest had public, private and parochial schools submitting videos of students performing one of five Christmas holiday songs. At stake for the chorus program is one of four $15,000 music grants that will be awarded to the four entries with the most online votes. PCHS chorus members performed “O Christmas Tree” for their contest submission. A YouTube video of it is attached to this article. As of early Thursday, the video had nearly 300 views on YouTube. SPHS Band Thanks Supporters for Contest Win

The band's version of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" got them the win in the Q100 contest.

Membes of the South Paulding High School on Thursday released a short video thanking their supporters for voting for them in an Atlanta-based radio show’s contest. The “Spirit of South Paulding” won $5,000 in The Bert Show’s "Battle of the High School Marching Bands." Q100 radio personalities Bert Weiss and Kristin Klingshirn called Director Christopher Carr and members of the Douglasville school's band to inform of the of the win to cheers of the high school students and a live snippet of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe", the song the band entered in the contest. "It will go further than you think," Carr said of the $5,000 during his interview with The Bert Show. "We're just so excited, so excited." The band was one of 28 to begin the …

The “Spirit of South Paulding” high school marching band will soon receive $5,000 from The Bert Show after winning a contest that began back in October.

Members of the South Paulding High School band will soon be dressed in new duds thanks to those who went online to support them in an Atlanta-based radio show’s contest. The “Spirit of South Paulding” will soon bring back to Douglasville $5,000 for winning The Bert Show’s "Battle of the High School Marching Bands." The band was one of 28 to begin the contest in October and had advanced to the final round earlier this month. The contest saw bands go head-to-head to earn online votes, with the top vote-getter in each matchup advancing to the next round.
