Local Restaurants Host Fundraiser for Tripp Halstead

Chick-fil-A restaurants in Hiram and Dallas will host a fundraiser for Tripp Halstead on April 1, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Chick-fil-A® restaurants in Hiram and Dallas will hold a fundraiser for Winder toddler Tripp Halstead on Monday, April 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. A percentage of sales will go toward Tripp’s medical expenses as he recovers from a critical head injury caused by a falling tree limb in October. Tripp’s struggle has touched so many people that the Paulding County Commissioner, David Austin, signed a proclamation on March 12 declaring April 1 Tripp Halstead Day. Fundraiser attendees are invited to sign “Get Well” posters for Tripp at the restaurants or to drop off cards of their own. Guests can also make donations at either of the restaurants. Petitions Support School Fundraising with Chick-fil-A

At least two petitions have been started to support the Paulding County School District’s usage of Chick-fil-A as a fundraising partner. The petitions are a response to another petition calling for the district to sever its fundraising ties to the chain.

Through online petitions, nearly 500 people have taken sides on the issue of whether Paulding County Schools should sever its fundraising ties with a national restaurant chain. Dallas-Hiram Patch last week reported that a petition on change.org called for the school district to stop using Chick-fil-A as a fundraising partner. It was started by a user named Reagan Stewart, identified as a resident of Douglasville. “My issue is that [Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy’s] company is actively donating millions of dollars to certified hate groups like The Family Research Council (FRC) that are actively seeking to promote discrimination towards and lobbying for legislation against the [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] community,” Stewart …

Kookiewkidz... Personally I can't figure out what a chicken sandwich eaten in a school has to do with seperation of church & state. If a parent has already chosen not to support Chick-Fil-A just don't give their child any money to buy a biscuit at school. Myself I love Chick-Fil-A. They make a great sandwich. They provide excellent service to their guest. They support their communities very well…   more ›

Petition Seeks Chick-fil-A’s Removal from Paulding Schools

The petition’s aim is to have the school district stop utilizing the restaurant chain for fundraising efforts.

A national restaurant chain’s support of a nonprofit labeled by some as a hate group has sparked a petition aimed at having the Paulding County School System cease its ties to the chain. A petition on change.org calls for the school district to stop using Chick-fil-A as a fundraising partner. It was started by a user named Reagan Stewart, identified as a resident of Douglasville. “It deeply saddens me to see that the school my daughter attends is still selling their product each and every Thursday morning,” Stewart writes in the petition. “I'm well aware of the views that the president of Chick-fil-A Dan Cathy has towards the [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] community. I have no issue with that. This is a free country and his …

If a parent does not want to support Chick-Fil-A seems like a simple solution for them is to not give their child any money to buy a biscuit on Thursday morning. My advice to the parent is get over it.   more ›
