An eight-time convicted felon will serve 10 years in prison without the possibility of parole after DNA linked him to a burglary that occurred last fall, according to Douglas County District Attorney David McDade. Michael William Donnelly, 44, of Dallas, received a 20-year sentence last week after entering a guilty plea to charges of burglary and theft by taking. The defendant was sentenced as a repeat offender, which means the first 10 years of his 20-year term will be served behind bars. Donnelly’s theft by taking felony conviction in 1995 launched a criminal career that extends over three decades. According to Assistant District Attorney Duncan Munn, a majority of the defendant’s criminal record centers around theft. Donnelly’s latest …

No arrests have been made in last week’s robbery in Douglasville, nor one that happened late last year in South Paulding.
A robbery at a Douglasville business last week could be tied to a similar crime that remains unsolved more than seven months later. The Douglas County Sheriff's and Douglasville Police Departments last week announced they were seeking two men after an armed robbery at the JP Jones Petro gas station on Bankhead Highway. Authorities report that one of the two suspects fired a round as they entered the store and robbed the clerk of the cash. The two may have been dropped off at the business by a gray, four-door car with fog lights. A Hiram teen is slated to be arrested and charged in connection with the May 12 burning of the General Western Cotton Mill in Douglasville. Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller in a press conference Tuesday said 18-year-old Terry Carringer of Hiram will faces charges of arson, interference with government property, criminal damage to property and burglary upon his arrest, which is expected to occur later today or Wednesday. Another individual, 20-year-old Christopher Roberts of Douglasville, is expected to be arrested in the same time frame to face the same charges.
