According to a Paulding County Sheriff’s Office news release, on June 1 of this year, Paulding resident Madison White left her residence in the late evening hours to go on vacation with her family. When she arrived at her vacation destination, she realized something that every traveler fears—that she had lost all of her vacation money. White was unsure where she lost the satchel that contained more than $1,900 cash as well as Social Security cards, bank account information and other personal information. Since she did not know where she lost her belongings, she did not know where to begin the search. She thought the belongings were gone forever. Granite countertops are just one kind of home improvement.
Last Saturday I had the pleasure of working with dozens of locally owned businesses and a small army of volunteers at a benefit for a Paulding county citizen who is battling a grave illness. Renae Hudgens is the wife of Paulding County Sheriff’s Deputy Mitch Hudgens. The event was sponsored by many of the county’s small business owners in an effort to support one of our neighbors in need to raise money to offset Mrs. Hudgens’ mounting medical bills. After a long and yet rewarding day of live auctions, raffles, motorcycle stunts, bands, bingo and barbecue, I went to bed that evening with a renewed sense of community and a greater understanding of the value of service. Responding to the increasing number of citizens wanting to assist law enforcement officials and build a stronger partnership in the fight against crime, Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge has announced that county residents are being invited to become honorary members of the Georgia Sheriff’s Association. GSA membership appeals will be mailed shortly. Individuals choosing to join the voluntary program can do so for as little as $20 a year, while businesses can show their support for a $50 contribution. The funding provides critically important technical resources, training and legislative support on key criminal justice issues. Update: The Paulding County Sheriff's Office on Friday afternoon announced additional charges Sims will face: three counts of peeping tom, three counts of public indecency, three counts of simple assault and one count of criminal attempt to commit a burglary.
