Paulding Jet Center Hosts Ongoing Army Training Operations

Local aerospace group to meet with lawmakers in February

The U.S. Army could be using the Paulding County Northwest Atlanta Airport for a majority of the year. Paulding Jet Center General Manager Joe Sarber told the airport authority at its meeting on Wednesday that Army officials indicated after doing a training operation at the airport recently that they would like to continue to use the facility and are looking to up their operations to six or seven a month with a variety of aircraft from C-130s, UH-60 helicopters and others, he said. FBO fuel sales associated with the army’s recent visit was at about 600 gallons, Sarber said. Airport Restorations Nearing Completion

Repairs to most of the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport could be completed this month, though hangar construction is expected to take longer.

Repairs to the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport following the March 2 tornado that damaged it could be completed by the end of the month. In the wake of the March 2 tornado, both the Paulding County Airport Authority and Industrial Building Authority continue to meet at the Watson Government Complex in Dallas. The entities held their monthly meetings Wednesday. According to Blake Swafford, PCAA director, who briefed other members of the airport authority on Wednesday, repairs to the terminal building’s roof, windows, and water damage, as well as repairs to fences on the site, are on schedule and expected to wrap up around the end of this month. Airport Restoration Contracts Starting Next Week

The Paulding County Airport Authority is turning the corner this month with its operations to clean up and restore the airport facility after the March 2 tornado caused millions of dollars in damages. The monthly PCAA and Industrial Building Authority meetings continue to be held at the Watson Government Complex in Dallas while repairs continue at the site; the entities met Wednesday morning. Repairs to the airport terminal’s roof, windows and water damage and also repairs to fences on the site will begin next week, according to Blake Swafford, director of the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport. Airport Authority Planning for October Air Show

An opportunity zone application has been submitted to the state.

The Paulding County Airport Authority and the Industrial Building Authority held first regular meetings for 2012 Wednesday morning. Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport officials are well into the planning and organizing stages for an October air show. Air show organizers Kerry Tidmore, and Dave Carmichael, both also veteran pilots, presented during the Paulding County Airport Authority meeting. The air show is slated for Oct. 20. Tidmore stressed that safety was the bottom line for the show and added that exposing young people and residents to the airport and the world of aviation is vital to the county’s future.
