In just a few hours, we should know who will represent Senate District 30 when the Georgia General Assembly convenes next week. Registered voters in the district had until 7 p.m. today to cast their votes for either Libertarian James Camp or Republican Mike Dugan. The 2012 election season will finally end today as voters in parts of three counties, including Paulding, weigh in on a state senate race that has spanned since late last year. Registered voters in Senate District 30 will have the chance to choose between Libertarian candidate James Camp and Republican candidate Mike Dugan. The winner will then look forward to next week as the 2013 Georgia General Assembly gets under way. Camp lives just outside of Temple has been employed as a senior IT technician for the past five years with a small IT consulting firm in Carrollton, according to his website. Early voting in the State Senate District 30 Race between Libertarian candidate James Camp and Republican candidate Mike Dugan concludes today at 5 p.m. Voters will have one more opportunity to cast ballots—Tuesday’s election day.
Voters in a portion of Paulding County have one last chance today to cast their ballots early in a special election that will determine their next state senator. Early voting for residents of State Senate District 30 began Wednesday. Those who have yet to cast their ballots early can visit today the Paulding County Elections Office in Dallas from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On the ballot are Libertarian James Camp and Republican Mike Dugan, the latter of whom won a Dec. 4 runoff to become the GOP candidate. Less then 3 percent of eligible voters in Paulding cast ballots in last week’s runoff election to select the Republican nominee for the open state senate seat. Voters will return to the polls early next year to choose their district’s next senator.
A new year will have barely started when residents of Senate District 30 get their first opportunity to head to the polls to help pick their next state senator. The district’s next senator will be either Libertarian James Camp or Republican Mike Dugan, the latter of whom won a Dec. 4 runoff to be named the GOP candidate. Today is the cutoff to register to vote in the Nov. 6 general election.
Today is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 general election. Paulding residents can register to vote by printing a voter registration application from Paulding County Elections & Voter Registration’s website or the Secretary of State’s website, going through the Department of Driver Services. As of Monday afternoon, Paulding County had between 84,000-85,000 registered voters. Early voting for the general election runs Oct. 15 through Nov. 2, with voting taking place each weekday at the county elections office. The advance voting period will be held Oct. 29 through Nov. 2, with voting that week held at the elections office and three satellite locations. All county voting precincts will be open on Nov. 6. Several names on the general election ballots recently changed weeks after voters weighed in during the July 31 primary. Are you prepared to vote on Nov. 6?
Paulding residents have just a few more weeks to register to vote in the Nov. 6 general election. Georgia’s voter registration deadline for this year’s general election is Oct. 8. While Paulding residents are able print a voter registration application from Paulding County Elections & Voter Registration’s website or the Secretary of State’s website (we’ve attached a copy of the application to this article), most locals will register to vote through the Department of Driver Services, says Deidre Holden, supervisor of the county’s elections office. Five men are vying to become the next state senator for District 30.
One of four Republicans will face a Libertarian in a Jan. 8 special election to determine the next state senator whose district covers part of Paulding County. Qualifying for the special primary election to determine the Republican candidate for Senate District 30 ended Friday with the field unchanged from Thursday. Four men will be in the GOP race: Mike Dugan, a general contractor from Carrollton; Bill Hembree, who resigned from his reelection bid in House District 67 to pursue the Senate seat; Carrollton business consultant James Naughton; and attorney Glenn Richardson of Hiram, the former State House speaker who resigned in 2010 following a suicide attempt and the revelation by his wife that he had an affair with a Capitol lobbyist.
