Today is the cutoff to register to vote in the Nov. 6 general election.
Today is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 general election. Paulding residents can register to vote by printing a voter registration application from Paulding County Elections & Voter Registration’s website or the Secretary of State’s website, going through the Department of Driver Services. As of Monday afternoon, Paulding County had between 84,000-85,000 registered voters. Early voting for the general election runs Oct. 15 through Nov. 2, with voting taking place each weekday at the county elections office. The advance voting period will be held Oct. 29 through Nov. 2, with voting that week held at the elections office and three satellite locations. All county voting precincts will be open on Nov. 6. Paulding voters decided…

Several names on the general election ballots recently changed weeks after voters weighed in during the July 31 primary. Are you prepared to vote on Nov. 6?
Paulding residents have just a few more weeks to register to vote in the Nov. 6 general election. Georgia’s voter registration deadline for this year’s general election is Oct. 8. While Paulding residents are able print a voter registration application from Paulding County Elections & Voter Registration’s website or the Secretary of State’s website (we’ve attached a copy of the application to this article), most locals will register to vote through the Department of Driver Services, says Deidre Holden, supervisor of the county’s elections office. Holden said the county’s registered voter count stood at 84,132 at the beginning of this month. She says it’s likely that number will increase by about 2,000 right before the Nov. 6 election. “You…

Five men are vying to become the next state senator for District 30.
One of four Republicans will face a Libertarian in a Jan. 8 special election to determine the next state senator whose district covers part of Paulding County. Qualifying for the special primary election to determine the Republican candidate for Senate District 30 ended Friday with the field unchanged from Thursday. Four men will be in the GOP race: Mike Dugan, a general contractor from Carrollton; Bill Hembree, who resigned from his reelection bid in House District 67 to pursue the Senate seat; Carrollton business consultant James Naughton; and attorney Glenn Richardson of Hiram, the former State House speaker who resigned in 2010 following a suicide attempt and the revelation by his wife that he had an affair with a Capitol lobbyist. The…

A general contractor from Carrollton threw his hat into the ring in the race to fill the withdrawn candidacy of Bill Hamrick. Qualifying for the Republican special primary election and a Jan. 8 special election to select the next senator ends Friday.
Voters in parts of three counties now have four candidates to consider in a special election in November—and it’s not over yet. Bill Hamrick, the Carrollton Republican who represented Senate District 30, was recently tapped by Gov. Nathan Deal to serve as superior court judge on the Coweta Judicial Circuit. His appointment left the GOP without a candidate for the office that represents a southern portion of Paulding County, most of Carroll County and a western portion of Douglas County. A special primary election will determine the Republican candidate for the senate seat, and qualifying for it began Wednesday. Mike Dugan, a general contractor from Carrollton, was the only candidate to qualify Thursday and is the fourth person overall to …
Three Republicans so far have entered the race to fill the withdrawn candidacy of Bill Hamrick. Qualifying for the Republican special primary election and a Jan. 8 special election to select the next senator ends Friday.
Republican voters in portions of three counties, including Paulding, are set to weigh in on a special primary election on this year’s general election day following a state senator’s appointment to another position. Bill Hamrick, the Carrollton Republican who represented Senate District 30, was recently tapped by Gov. Nathan Deal to serve as superior court judge on the Coweta Judicial Circuit. Prior to the appointment, Hamrick was on track to serve another term after facing no opposition in the July primary and having no Democrats nor independents seek the seat. District 30 includes a southern portion of Paulding County, most of Carroll County and a western portion of Douglas County. The Georgia Secretary of State’s Office on Monday …

Paulding County resident Micah Gravley will replace incumbent Bill Hembree, R-Winston, on the November ballot.
One of Paulding County’s newest State House seats could be occupied by a Paulding resident come January if voters support the new Republican candidate in the November general election. Redistricting amended the legislative boundary of the 67th district to include a southeastern portion of Paulding. Representing the district was Republican Bill Hembree of Winston. But Hembree is now set to seek the Senate District 30 seat vacated by Bill Hamrick following the latter’s appointment as superior court judge on the Coweta Judicial Circuit. Hembree’s departure left a vacancy for Republicans to fill in the race for the House District 67 seat, which is also being pursued by Leigh Mcmutry, a Democrat from Winston; Hembree and Mcmutry were unopposed …
