Weekend Roundup: Raiders Upset, Wolfpack Mauled

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Dallas-Hiram Patch.

Pope 29, East Paulding 23 – Even though three teams are tied atop the Region 5N-AAAA standings, Pope stands to win the subregion because of tiebreaker scenarios, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. The Greyhounds upset previously unbeaten and fourth-ranked East Paulding on the road Friday and scored as many points Friday as have been scored on the Raiders in their last seven games combined. Kell 52, North Paulding 20 – Kell scored on its opening kickoff return, then recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff and scored on its first play from scrimmage, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. Before a minute had burned from the clock the Longhorns were up by two touchdowns. The North Paulding Wolfpack have now lost three games in a row…

Football Preview: Raiders Host 2nd-Place Pope

North Paulding, East Paulding and Paulding County are all at home tonight while South Paulding travels.

Kell (5-2, 3-1) at North Paulding (3-5, 1-4) – Kell has won three games in a row and has one of the stingiest defenses in region play. North Paulding ranks third in the region in scoring and needs to explode on offense tonight if it hopes to climb out of the cellar in the standings. Pope (6-1, 3-1) at East Paulding (7-0, 4-0) – The fourth-ranked East Paulding Raiders host Pope tonight and look to prove their defense is for real. The Raiders allowed a team to reach double digits on the scoreboard for the first time all season and Pope brings with it the second-strongest offense in Region 5N-AAAA play. South Paulding (5-2, 4-0) at Paulding County (2-5, 1-3) – South Paulding is currently on a four-game winning streak and has blanked three of …

Weekend Pigskin Roundup

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Dallas-Hiram Patch.

Paulding County 27, Lithia Springs 13 – The Patriots amassed close to 500 yards of total offense and broke out of a five-game losing streak to ruin Lithia Springs' homecoming. The Patriots dual threats at running back, Carl Edouard and Kwan Talley ran for 170 yards apiece with Edouard scoring three times. South Paulding 34, Douglas County 17 – The Spartans won their fourth game in a row Friday and have allowed just more than four points per game over the span of their winning streak. East Paulding 63, Hiram 14 – East Paulding matched its highest scoring output of the season with 63 points but allowed 14 points from Hiram. The Raiders had allowed just 15 points combined in their previous six games. Osborne 42, North Paulding 25 – The …

Friday Football Preview: Region Games Galore

Hiram hits the road while North Paulding and Paulding County host regional opponents.

Hiram (3-3, 1-2) at Sprayberry (2-3, 1-1) – Only Osborne is below Hiram in the Region 5N-AAAA standings right now, but a win from the Hornets tonight could launch them all the way up to third place if they get some help. Hiram has lost two games in a row and has not scored many points during that stretch. The Yellow Jackets are giving up 33 points per game this season, meaning Hiram can get its offense back on track on the road. Pope (4-1, 1-1) at North Paulding (3-3, 1-2) – The Wolfpack ended a two-game losing streak last week with a region win over Hiram. Tonight they host a potent Pope offense that may not be firing on all cylinders. Injuries have taken a toll on the Greyhounds and North Paulding can make up some ground in Region 5N-…

Weekend Pigskin Roundup: Raiders Blank Another

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Dallas-Hiram Patch.

East Paulding 31, Sprayberry 0 – East Paulding continued its dominance over Region 5N-AAAA play and high school football in general Friday with its fourth shutout through six games this season. The Raiders have given up just 15 points all year, which amounts to just two and a half points per game. It’s hard to lose a game when all the offense has to do each week is kick a field goal to win. North Paulding 34, Hiram 14 – North Paulding halted a two-game skid Friday with its 20-point victory over Hiram. The win gave the Wolfpack their first Region 5N-AAAA win of the season and placed them within one game of second-place Kell. Hiram lost its second game in a row and fell into a tie in region play with North Paulding, with only Osborne below …

East Paulding Routs North Paulding

The Raiders shut out the Wolfpack, 63-0, with stingy defense and a quick-striking offense.

East Paulding's Andrej Suttles scored the first touchdown of the night for the Raiders, catching a pass from Mitchell Webb and racing 36 yards for the score. Suttles went on to score three more touchdowns on the night as the Raiders routed the North Paulding Wolfpack, 63-0, in a special Thursday night game at North Paulding High School. East Paulding led 7-0 after the first quarter. Then, mistakes and turnovers haunted the Wolfpack in the second quarter allowing East Paulding to score five touchdowns and put the game away early.
