Few Tickets Remain for Chamber’s Annual Dinner

The event, celebrating the Paulding Chamber of Commerce’s 52nd year, will be held Jan. 17 at the Paulding County Senior Center.

Time is running out to secure what is typically a hot ticket in Paulding County. The Paulding Chamber of Commerce’s annual seated dinner, which will commemorate the organization’s 52nd year of existence, will be held at the Paulding County Senior Community Center Thursday, Jan. 17. The event will begin with a VIP reception at 6 p.m. and dinner seating at 7 p.m. Few tickets remained as of earlier this week and are being sold individually at $125 each. Rhubarb Jones will give the event’s keynote address. Formerly the longest-running morning radio personality in Atlanta, according to his website, Jones now serves as a part-time instructor of communication at Kennesaw State University as well as the college’s director of special events in the …

Video: Officials Break Ground at WellStar Hospital Site

Crews are already on the job at the site of the WellStar Paulding Hospital, slated to be complete in about two years.

Though dirt was already being moved at the site of the future WellStar Paulding Hospital, officials with the health group and others who have helped the project along were on hand Monday to lift shovels to commemorate the beginning of construction. The facility being built in Hiram along Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway at Bill Carruth Parkway, next to the Paulding Physicians Center, is slated to open in April of 2014. Fifty-six in-patient beds will be available once the hospital opens, though future work will double that amount to 112. I am anxious to see this his hospital built and glad to hear they are moving away from the old modern cooling towers and going towards geothermal energy to heat and cool the hospital. Cincinnati, Ohio-based Kroger Company in January announced plans to close its Hiram location on Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway. Paulding residents saw the store close its doors just over a month later.
