The city of Dallas is lending its support.

With funding commitments from the Paulding County Board of Commissioners and Paulding Chamber of Commerce, the city of Dallas is the latest entity to throw its financial support behind Paulding County Economic Development. The presentation was made just weeks before PCED announced that a major Italian manufacturer selected Paulding County for its new U.S. headquarters location. "From new international companies selecting Paulding for major facilities to securing new incentives like the oportunity zone, PCED is working hard to help shape a prosperous future for Paulding but…

Why does our county government continue to award contracts for work to firms outside of Paulding County when there are competent contractors in Paulding available to do the work? When the monies awarded go to firms outside of the county, none of the funds are benefiting the county. County residents have given the monies--when the invoices are paid to in-county people, that money is circulated …   more ›

Park Could Be Renamed After Commissioner

The Paulding Board of Commissioners will consider Tuesday a measure that would rename White Oak Park after Post I Commissioner Larry Ragsdale.

One of Paulding County’s parks could soon be renamed if commissioners approve a resolution slated to come before them Tuesday. The agenda for Tuesday’s 10 a.m. work session of the Paulding County Board of Commissioners include a resolution that, if approved, would rename White Oak Park in honor of Commissioner Larry Ragsdale, who serves Post 1 where the park is located. Should commissioners pass the measure, Ragsdale would witness the approval at what will likely be his last meeting, as the board is scheduled to meet only once this month and Ragsdale’s term as commissioner is ending. PLEASE PLEASE don't change the name of White Oak Park. If you ever do change it's name, PLEASE DON"T name it after Larry Ragsdale!!!!! There is no valid reason to name it after him, to make a long story short. White Oak stands on it's own name just like it is. And I think it should stay that way.   more ›

County Offices and More Closed Today

While many entities will be closed today in observance of Veterans Day, a furlough day will keep some Paulding County workers home.

Don’t expect to see your mailman or bank teller on the job today. Veterans Day was Sunday, and because the holiday fell on the weekend, many entities will observe the holiday today, including the federal government, which will be giving many of its employees the day off, according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. Today is also a holiday for the state of Georgia, one of the 12 holidays state employees will observe this year. In addition, the doors of your financial institution aren’t likely to be open today, as today will be treated by most of those companies as a bank holiday.
