Principal Eddie Fincher will be stepping down at the end of the current school year, but is assisting his successor until his term expires.
The Paulding County Schools administrator who came out of retirement to provide guidance for a local high school is leaving his post this summer. Eddie Fincher was working at Grace Christian Academy after retiring from the Paulding County School System in June 2010. He was "recalled to the colors" to help provide leadership for Paulding County High School. Fincher announced over spring break this year that he would be retiring from Paulding County High School at the end of the 2012-2013 school year, and that a replacement has already been named. Paulding County High School JROTC Cadet Zachary Toler will soon be walking through the same stomping grounds as some of America's great heroes like Douglas MacArthur, George Patton and Omar Bradley among many others. Tolar has been selected to attend the West Point (SLE) Summer Leadership Experience at West Point, NY., the United States Military Academy. American War Hero Cpl. Todd Love breaks ground on his new future home in Paulding County.
American War Hero Cpl. Todd Love climbed into a Bob Cat earth digger Thursday and broke ground on his future new home in Douglasville, on Ridge Rd. It might not be such an extraordinary story except that Love lost both of his legs and left arm after he triggered an IED while on foot patrol in Afghanistan on the morning of Oct. 25, 2010. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the Gary Sinise Foundation have partnered through their “Building for America’s Bravest” program to build Love his new “Smart Home” in Paulding County. As a major sponsor, the Home Depot Foundation has committed $200,000 to assist in building Love’s House. Rack Room Shoes will award $15,000 grants to the top four vote-getters in a contest that runs through Jan. 11. Learn how you can vote online for the Paulding County High Chorus program.
Your online votes can once again help Paulding students bring home a large sum of money. The Paulding County High School Chorus program is one of 22 entries from Georgia in Rack Room Shoes’ “Gift of Music” video contest. The contest had public, private and parochial schools submitting videos of students performing one of five Christmas holiday songs. At stake for the chorus program is one of four $15,000 music grants that will be awarded to the four entries with the most online votes. PCHS chorus members performed “O Christmas Tree” for their contest submission. A YouTube video of it is attached to this article. As of early Thursday, the video had nearly 300 views on YouTube. A message found written at Moses Middle School was the second bomb threat made to a Paulding school this week.
Dismissal procedures at Moses Middle were altered Friday afternoon following school officials’ discovery of a bomb threat written on a bathroom stall, school district and public safety officials said Friday evening. The threat was the second to involve a Paulding County school this week. The threatening message was found and reported to school officials at the end of the school day, Associate Superintendent Brian Otott told Dallas-Hiram Patch, but it was not immediately known how long the message had been written there. Students were evacuated out of Paulding County High School Wednesday morning following a bomb threat called in anonymously. Return to Dallas-Hiram Patch for updates.
Officials with Paulding County Schools at noon Wednesday confirmed that a bomb threat led to the evacuation of Paulding County High School earlier in the day. “The 911 center did receive an anonymous call [saying] there was a bomb in Paulding County High School. The caller did not provide any other details, and as a precautionary measure, [as we do] any time we have a bomb threat, the building was evacuated,” Associate Superintendent Brian Otott told Dallas-Hiram Patch. Following the evacuation, Otott said, Paulding County Sheriff’s deputies and school officials searched the premises for anything dangerous but found nothing suspicious.
