Officials with the Paulding Education Foundation are hoping to raise $14,000 through a golf tournament on Monday to fund scholarships and grants. This is the second time the foundation has hosted the Autumn Golf Classic, and Executive Director Amy Mollohan said she plans it to become an annual event. The first golf tournament was held two years ago. "It’s a great way for the businesses who partner with the foundation to not only promtote their business but also help the public schools," Mollohan said. "It makes for a great day." On May 5, “Cinco De Mayo,” the Paulding Education Foundation hosted its inaugural “Fiesta Run” fundraiser to benefit the schools of Paulding County. More than 600 runners and walkers came out to downtown Dallas to participate in the 5K run and 1K kid run, a news release from the foundation stated. The overall winner in the male category was 42-year-old Richard Sharper with a time of 17:59. In the female category, 34-year-old Tamieka Grizzle-Mart won with a time of 21:01. Runners looking to take part in a 5K event May 5 to help local schools may want to quicken their pace if they have not yet registered. Organizers of The Paulding Education Foundation’s inaugural 5K Fiesta Run/Walk, to be held in downtown Dallas, are taking online registrations on active.com. Those wanting to take part in the 5K race are now being offered a $20 registration price, but that cost will go up to $30 after Sunday and up until the day of the race.
