VIDEO: Paulding Commemorates 11th Anniversary of 9/11

Those who lost their lives as a result of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks were remembered at a ceremony at Mount Tabor Park Tuesday morning.

Paulding public safety officials and community members were among those who came out to Mount Tabor Park Tuesday morning for the county’s annual Patriot’s Day ceremony, which paid respect to the victims of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony included the laying of wreaths to commemorate those who lost their lives, the ringing of the New York City firefighters' 5-5-5-5 bell call to honor the fallen fire personnel, a 21-gun salute by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard and the playing of “Taps.” See the attached video for highlights of Tuesday’s event. The public is invited to attend this morning's ceremony aimed at remembering those who lost their lives and sacrificed themselves for others during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

9/11 Ceremony Tuesday; Commissioners Meeting Thursday

The county’s annual remembrance of the events of Sept. 11, 2001, will be held on the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. County commissioners will not meet that day, but rather, later in the week.

The public is invited to attend a ceremony Tuesday morning aimed at remembering those who lost their lives and sacrificed themselves for others during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The ceremony, which is being held at Mt. Tabor Park in Dallas, will begin at 9 a.m. The event is a joint effort between the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and the Paulding County Fire Department. Paulding firefighters and deputies will be among those putting on the annual event at Mt. Tabor Park in Dallas.

Nearly 11 years removed from 9/11, Paulding County’s public safety officials still remember the attacks that led to the deaths of thousands of American civilians, police officers, firefighters and countless others. “To this day, I know where I was at and what I was doing when it happened, and you talk to other people and they do too. Young men and women have sacrificed themselves since that day, and we need to show our support for our country and for our fellow police officers and firemen,” said Maj. Chad Hunton of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office. Paulding Remembers 9/11 during Sunday Ceremony

Those who lost their lives as a result of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks were commemorated at a ceremony at Mount Tabor Park Sunday morning.

Paulding public safety officials and community members came out in full force Sunday morning for the county’s Patriot’s Day ceremony at Mount Tabor Park, which honored those who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony saw Paulding firefighters lead a cascading of sirens—which signifies a firefighter answering his final call—and the New York City firefighters' 5-5-5-5 bell call to honor the fallen fire personnel. The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard fired a 21-gun salute, and Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department buglers played “Taps.” See the attached video for highlights of the Sunday morning event.

World Trade Center Steel Piece Dedicated

Paulding County officials unveiled a piece of the World Trade Center on Friday, which will serve as a reminder of those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Paulding County officials and community members were among those on hand at the Watson Government Complex in Dallas on Friday during the unveiling of a piece of steel from the World Trade Center in New York City, one of the places hit during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The piece of steel, along with a plaque that will be displayed along with it, will honor those will lost their lives in the attacks as well as those who sacrificed their lives to save others that day. Liberty Garden Significant for Many

Paulding's Liberty Garden, dedicated at the county's first Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony in 2002, is visited often.

The Liberty Garden at Mt. Tabor Park reportedly has brought comfort to a lot of Paulding residents and non-local people, and not just annually on Sept. 11 the past decade. “It is visited daily by individuals from all over the state and country,” says Deidre Holden, now Paulding County supervisor of elections and registration and the driving force behind the garden’s construction. She says the idea for the memorial “came from Keep America Beautiful soon after the worst day in America’s history.” Holden received the KAB email in her role as Keep Paulding Beautiful executive director in early 2002 and said she knew immediately the memorial would be possible “with the help of the community and business support.” Indeed, local support was …
