Dallas Driver Involved in Fatal Crash in Cobb

The crash occurred Thursday afternoon in Smyrna.

Cobb County Police officials on Thursday announced they were investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a Buford resident. According to a CCPD news release, the crash occurred Thursday about 1:43 p.m. in Smyrna on the westbound Interstate 285 ramp to South Cobb Drive. The incident, according to authorities, saw a red and white 1998 Link Belt HTC8670 crane truck that was stopped in traffic struck in the rear by a black 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. After striking the truck, the Cruze rolled backwards down the ramp toward southbound traffic on I-285, coming to a stop after rolling down the embankment between the interstate and ramp. Woman Dies on Silver Comet Trail

A woman is dead after an ATV crash on the Silver Comet Trail Friday night. Police believe alcohol was involved.

A woman is dead after she and a friend riding in an ATV crashed the motorized vehicle on the Silver Comet Trail shortly after midnight. The woman, 52-year-old Elizabeth Z. Neesley of Austell, was ejected from her seat in the red ATV when it collided with a metal pole placed in the middle of the trail to prevent motor vehicles access on the trail. After the vehicle collided with the pole, it caught fire and burned, police said. Randall P. Gianisiracusa, 52, of Austell, was the other occupant of the ATV. He sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash, which occurred east of Floyd Road. Gianisiracusa was treated at the scene and then released.
