Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $600M

Saturday’s Powerball jackpot has reached $600 million, the highest jackpot in the game’s history. The announcement was made this afternoon, just one day after strong sales prompted lottery officials to bump Saturday’s Powerball jackpot from $475 million to $550 million. Not only is the current $600 million jackpot the largest in Powerball history, it is the second largest jackpot in U.S. history. The combined Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots now stands to $790 million, which breaks Thursday's U.S. record. Tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot is worth an estimated $190 million. Powerball Jackpot Grows to $360M

And the jackpot is $170 million for tonight’s Mega Millions drawing.

Georgia Lottery officials announced today that Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot has grown from $350 million to $360 million. The amount increased as a result of brisk ticket sales, Georgia Lottery spokeswoman Kimberly M. Starks said. Since April 3, the Powerball jackpot has rolled 12 times.  The winner can opt to receive 30 graduated payments over 29 years or collect about $229 million.

Paulding Woman Wins $40K Lottery Prize

A scratch-off ticket paid off for a Dallas antiques dealer.

Christy Solomon will soon be counting her money after winning the top prize in the Georgia Lottery’s “Count The Money” instant game. Solomon, a 52-year-old antiques dealer, scratched the ticket she bought at Glade Food Mart on W. Memorial Drive in Dallas, according to a news release Thursday. Now, she’s $40,000 richer. “I just walked in and bought the ticket,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it.” With one adult daughter, Solomon described being “shocked” but is ecstatic about winning her prize. Two Million Reasons To Celebrate

A Paulding County couple claimed a $2 million prize won from a Powerball drawing last week.

Days after their numbers came up, Kenneth and Mary Davis of Dallas are $2 million richer. According to a news release Wednesday, the two held the ticket that matched the first five numbers from the May 9 Powerball drawing. For matching the numbers 1-7-11-55-56, they won a $2 million prize. The Powerball in that drawing was 1, but the Davis’ ticket did not match that number drawn. The couple on their ticket selected the PowerPlay option for an additional $1, increasing their prize amount by $1 million. The Davis’ claimed their prize Wednesday at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta. Crossroads Grocery, 8774 Dallas Acworth Highway in Dallas, sold the winning ticket. A Paulding County store sold a ticket that won a big prize in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing.

A Georgia Lottery retailer in Paulding County has sold a Powerball ticket worth $2 million. According to a news release Thursday, the lucky ticket from Wednesday’s drawing was purchased at Crossroads Grocery, located at 8774 Dallas Acworth Highway in Dallas. Winning numbers from the May 9 drawing were 1-7-11-55-56, and the Powerball was 1. The ticket purchased in Dallas matched the first five winning numbers from the drawing. Because the PowerPlay option was selected for an additional $1, the prize amount increased by $1 million. The winner has 180 days from the draw date to claim.
